Noise and Vibration Monitoring
As the majority of civil works were completed by the end of December 2011, continuous noise and vibration monitoring has now ceased (in agreement with the London Borough of Lewisham).
We recognise that construction work can be disruptive and we are committed to being a good neighbour and take our environmental responsibilities very seriously.
A set of environmental controls have been agreed with London borough of Lewisham Council. These include control of noise and vibration, to comply with these requirements Birse Metro Ltd are undertaking noise and vibration monitoring at locations agreed with the London borough of Lewisham Council.
We have received prior consent from the London Borough of Lewisham under Section 61 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 and are working within guidelines agreed with the Council. These include working within specified hours (08.00 - 18.00 weekdays and 08.00 - 13.00 Saturdays) and using designated access routes to reduce disturbance to the local community. With the agreement of Lewisham council there will be extended Saturday working hours from the 20th August to the 26th November, starting at 08:00 and finishing at 18:00.
We will try to minimise noise and vibration levels, and will give you advance warning of any work that has to take place outside of the standard working hours.
To ensure that we are meeting our environmental responsibilities, we monitor noise and vibration levels and publish reports fortnightly which you can download by clicking on the links below.
