The Project

Transport for London (TfL) is extending the London Overground network from Dalston Junction to Clapham Junction via Surrey Quays. This will provide a quick link between east and southwest London, completing the London Overground orbital railway around the Capital.

Birse Metro is the contractor responsible for building the new 1.3km railway to link Overground services at Surrey Quays with the existing railway near Old Kent Road. Network Rail’s contractor Carillion will link it into the existing National Rail network.

The extension will bring:

  • Fast, frequent services with four trains per hour
  • Links to new destinations
  • New, high-capacity, air-conditioned trains
